“Education is the movement from darkness to light”

True education dispels the darkness of ignorance and leads one to have light of life. World famous hymn ‘Lead, kindly Light’ by St. John Henry Newman, is a beautiful prayer and the very motto of our school, is “LEAD KINDLY LIGHT”. We need this light within us to see everyone as our brothers and sisters and to Appreciate, Acknowledge and Accept each other as they are. Let this Devine Light burning within us, enable us to share the light of Joy and Love, light of Peace and Tolerance wherever we go and whomever we meet and eventually to make this universe little more beautiful.

I am elated for having given me an opportunity to sail with this prestigious institution. It is indeed an honour to be an instrument in moulding the pillars of global society. School is not just a place to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower the students to be ongoing learners, critical thinkers and productive children of the mother earth. It is delightful to witness young minds emerging out of their shells and attaining a multifaceted development.

This temple of learning is not only helping the children under our care to be intellectually well, but also, moulding them to be men and women of values and become responsible citizens of tomorrow. G.K Chesterton has rightly said; “Education is simply the soul of the society as it passes from one generation to another”.

It is well said, that “What you are is God’s gift to you and what you become is your gift to God”. Let’s make use of all the opportunities to become a beautiful gift to God- a Child of God. Let’s not forget these three words in our life’s journey to realise this dream of becoming a beautiful gift for God: Faithfulness, Responsibility and Seriousness. When we as a teacher, as a student and as a parent, carry out our responsibilities faithfully, responsibly and seriously we become great instruments in the hands of God to create a better world for the future generation. For true education makes one, a responsible citizen and invites him or her to commit themselves to safeguard the wellbeing of the mother earth and everything and everyone she holds and thus together we can light up the whole world.

We all are engaged in a very noble as well as a very serious mission of creating a beautiful world to live in tomorrow. We all have our own anxieties and fears. We all need His light to lead us on our way. We need His courage and strength. He with his encouraging words removes all sorts of fears and anxieties and instills in us courage and strength. We shall pray with the ancient sages of our country;

असतो मा सद्गमय।

अंधेरे में प्रबुद्ध।

मृत्यु में अमृतम गामय।

(Lead us from ignorance to Truth, from darkness to light and from death to immortality) Let’s pray to this Divine light, “Lead, O! Kindly Light”.
